Anita Luna
Obituary
Anita Luna, lifelong resident of
Sedgwick, passed away at home Friday (May 6, 2016), at the age of 89.
She was born March 15, 1927, in Sedgwick, the daughter of Miguel and
Anastasia Medina Luna. Anita graduated from Sedgwick High School in
1947.
For many years Anita was a housekeeper
and caretaker in the homes of Lyle Congdon and Raymond Bert. She
worked as a C.N.A. at the Sedgwick Health Care and Nursing Home for
18 years and continued to volunteer there until she was 82.
She enjoyed taking care of people,
visiting with everyone and quilting. Anita and her sister Lyla were
featured on a segment of Larry Hatteberg's people on KAKE-TV. Anita
was a longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and
very active in the Altar Society.
Anita is survived by her sister with
whom she lived, Nellie Luna Chavez, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her
parents; brothers Victor, Longino, Martin, Rito, and sister Micaela
"Lyla", all of Sedgwick.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be
at 7 p.m. on Tuesday (May 10, 2016), with the Mass of Christian
Burial at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, both at Our Lady of Guadalupe
Church in Newton. Her final resting place will be at the Hillside
Cemetery in Sedgwick.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been
established with Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and Harry Hynes
Memorial Hospice.
