Obituary
GOESSEL - Linda Goertzen, 85, passed away March 4, 2014, at
Newton Medical Center, Newton.
She was born Oct. 11, 1928, in Marion County, the daughter
of Peter and Anna Schmidt Bartel. She loved to bake, cook, crochet, cross
stitch, and do gardening, both vegetables and flowers.
She was a member of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church,
Goessel. On Aug. 29, 1951, she married Milton Goertzen at Goessel. He survives.
Other survivors include her children, Lynette (Stuart)
Penner of rural Hillsboro, Myron (Ruth) Goertzen of rural Goessel, Steve
Goertzen and Rosemary Reimer of rural Goessel, Tim (Judy) Goertzen of rural
Goessel, Mark Goertzen and Suzanne Ehst of Constantine, Mich.; eight
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers, Adolph, Paul,
Herbert, Leonhard, Roland, Peter and Otto; and two sisters, Selma Reimer and
Martha Peters.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March
7, 2014, at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, Goessel. Graveside service will be
at 10 a.m. March 8, 2014, at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church Cemetery, with a
memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Alexanderwohl
Mennonite Church, Goessel, with Pastor Linda Ewert and Pastor Steve Schmidt
officiating.
Memorials may be sent to either the Alexanderwohl Mennonite
Church or Mennonite Central Committee, in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home,
Goessel.
