Tammie Sue (Fryhover) Schooler
Obituary
Tammie Sue (Fryhover) Schooler passed away Feb. 16, 2014, at
the age of 47.
Tammie was born Aug. 8, 1966, and grew up in Newton. Tammie
attended school in Newton, where she was involved in the band and a member of
the swim team. Tammie graduated from Newton High School in 1984. Tammie went on
to study at Washburn University, and she graduated from Washburn in 1990.
While at Washburn, she met the love of her life Bradly
Schooler, and on Oct. 19, 1990, they were married in Topeka. Tammie worked for
Blue Cross of Kansas for many years, then left to be at home with her children.
Tammie would return to work as a substitute teacher in Topeka district 501
schools.
Tammie loved to be involved with her children's education.
She volunteered at McEachron Elementary School and served on the PTA. The day
she passed the CPC exam and became a certified professional coder was a day she
said "she would never forget." Tammie joined the local NEKSAAPC chapter
and served on several committees. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and
friend, and she never knew a stranger.
Tammie loved the movie "The Wizard of Oz," and she
was known by her family and friends as the "Purple Princess." Tammie
loved to get the best deal on anything and was an avid coupon shopper; family
and friends also called her the "Queen of Couponing." As the Wizard
said to the Tin Man, "you can't judge a person's heart by how much they
love others, but rather by how much they are loved by others." Tammie's
heart was very big for she was loved by many, and will be deeply missed.
Tammie is survived by her husband, Bradly Schooler;
daughter, Samantha; and sons, Michael and Jared, all of the home. Tammie also
is survived by her mother, Marie Fryhover of Newton, who had been at Tammie's
side during her long battle with cancer for the past three years. Other
survivors include her four sisters, Rhonda (Bill) Liggett, of Newton, Vicky
Telles, of Newton, Crystal Anderson, of Topeka, and Melissa (John) Kennedy, of
Topeka. Tammie is also survived by two brothers, Ricky Fryhover, of Newton, and
Kerry (Micki) Fryhover, of Newton. Tammie is also survived by many other family
members who loved her and will miss her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Fryhover,
and step-father Harvey Anderson.
A memorial service will be held at the Cross Roads Church,
512 S.W. Madison, Scranton, KS 66537, on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at 4 p.m.
Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to her
children's education fund, in care of U.S. Bank or the American Cancer Society
