John R. Younkman
Obituary
John R. Younkman, 88, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at his
Newton residence.
He was born March 3, 1925, in Hays to John and Louise E.
(Mercet) Younkman. He was the retired postmaster for North Newton. John served
his country in World War II, in the United States Navy. He greatly enjoyed
collecting antiques and traveling to antique shows with his wife, Irene.
He is survived by his wife, Irene of the home, and sons,
John and his wife, Susan of Pratt and Karl Younkman of Wellington. John has
three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private family service will be held in Hillcrest Cemetery
in Florence.
Memorials are suggested to Caring Hands Humane Society or
Newton Public Library, in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
