Obituary
Donald E. Parrish, 83, went to be with
Our Lord and Saviour, Friday, May 20, in Schowalter Progressive
Recovery Academy.
He was born in Hutchinson on August 9,
1932. He grew up in Denver, Colorado, and joined the Army in 1953,
10th Inf. Div. Band Tng Unit, at Fort Riley, earning a honorable
discharge in 1955.
Don spent most of his time helping his
Uncle Jesse and Aunt Flora Morgan on their farm east of Burns. He was
a member of Burns United Methodist Church. On December 26, 1953, he
was united in marriage to Laverna Puckett in Engelwood, Colorado, and
she survives. They made their homestead on the same beautiful farm
near Burns until retirement to Schowalter Villa in 2010.
Don had many talents; to mention a few
– musician, plumber, farmer, butcher and maintenance man. He was
also father to James (Theresa) Parrish of Fayetteville, Arkansas,
David (Joni) Parrish of Wichita, Timothy (Kathy) Parrish of
Moundridge, and Kathryn (Larry) Hoelscher of Newton.
Don enjoyed hunting, helping his
community and spending time with his family. He had a wonderful sense
of humor. We will miss him and his laugh.
Don is also survived by his sisters
Patricia Parrish Hugley, Carol (Gregg) McClure, and brother Carl
Parrish; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents
Nona and Frank Parrish.
A celebration of life will be June 6,
2016, at Schowalter Villa Chapel, at 10 a.m. Interment, with military
honors, will follow at the Burns City Cemetery.
