Obituary

Kathrine "Kathy" P. Schmidt, 41, died in Wichita.

Kathy was born on Dec. 6, 1972, to Billy K. McFarland and Jerry W. Schmidt in Hedelburg, Germany.

She attended Newton Bible Church in Newton. Kathy's hobbies included graphic arts and designs. She enjoyed being with people and made friends easily wherever she might be.

Preceding her in death was her mother, Billy.

Survivors include her father, Jerry and wife, Tootsie, Hillsboro; two sons, Christopher James Schmidt, Wichita, and Alex Wayne Schmidt, Newton; brother, Jeffrey Lee (Lori) Schmidt, Augusta; two step-brothers, Chris Frantz (Terri Pierce), Hillsboro, and Mitchell (Jessica) Frantz and their children, Logan and Jaidyn, Hillsboro; and companion, Mike Kunkel and his children, Tanisha and Tiffany, Newton.

Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, 2 p.m. at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton.

A book signing will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, with the family greeting guests from 7 to 8 p.m. at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.

Cremation has taken place.
