Obituary
Ronald Glen Jennings, 66, of Newton, died Saturday (Jan. 18,
2014) at the Harry Hynes Hospice of Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St.
Francis Campus in Wichita.
He was born on March 22, 1947, in Grant City, Mo., the son
of Glen and Viola Mae Sharp Jennings. Ronnie graduated from Grant City High
School in 1965.
He began his truck driving career in Albany, Mo., with Petro
Lane delivering propane.
Ronald married Carolyn Shaffer on June 17, 1967, in Albany,
Mo. They moved to King City, Mo., where he began working for Meadow Gold Dairy,
later being transferred to Ottumwa, Iowa, then to Topeka.
In 1988, Ronald went to work for Casey's General Store
delivering gasoline, where he remained working until his death. The Jennings
moved from Topeka to Newton in 1999.
Ronald enjoyed hunting and could be seen regularly at the
"Round Table" of Newell's Truck Stop in Newton.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn of the home in Newton;
son, Paul Glen Jennings and wife, Tammye of Topeka; daughters, Sybil Rollwagen
and husband, Jesse of Overland Park, and Sonya Rogers and husband, David of
Moncks Corner, S.C.; his parents, Glen and Viola Jennings of Grant City;
sisters, Beverly Ruckman and husband, Mike, and Judy Houk and husband, Scott of
Grant City; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 21, 2014)
at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
Graveside and interment services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday
(Jan. 22, 2014) at the Grant City Cemetery in Grant City, Mo. Friends may call
at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
