Gerald Eugene Voth
Obituary
Gerald Eugene Voth of
Bellingham, Wash., passed away on Nov. 23, 2013.
He was born Aug. 31, 1941, in Newton to Hilmar and Ruth
(Penner) Voth.
Gerald grew up in Newton where he and his family attended
First Mennonite Church. He also attended college in Newton at Bethel College,
where he graduated with a degree in industrial arts education. He taught
industrial arts for several years and continued working with his hands through
auto mechanic work and as a small engine mechanic.
He settled in Kansas City in the late 1960's, where he
raised his three sons and was a member of Rainbow Mennonite Church.
On Nov. 14, 2009, Gerald married Arlene Senuty of
Bellingham, Wash., and joined her at her home there. He and Arlene had some
wonderful years during which they enjoyed travelling throughout the Pacific
Northwest and visiting family back in Kansas. Gerald was excited to share the
mountains, coasts and history of his new home in the Northwest with his kids
and grandkids.
Gerald loved history and would stop to learn about the local
history wherever he travelled. He especially enjoyed family history and always
looked forward to family reunions where he could share stories and pictures.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Arlene; sister, LaDeen and
her husband, Gordon Stucky of Newton; sister, Carol and her husband, John Myhchalishyn
of Mill Creek, Wash.; son, Aaron Voth and wife, Michelle of Newton; son, Andrew
Voth and wife, Janel of Overland Park; son, Ben Voth and wife, Nicki of Lawson,
Mo.; and stepson, Chris Breen of Liberty, Mo.
Gerald truly enjoyed spending time with his many
grandchildren and especially enjoyed it when all his grandchildren would be
together at the holidays.
A service for Gerald's Kansas family and friends will be at
3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Rainbow Mennonite Church in Kansas City.
