Obituary
WALTON - Roman Gonzalez, 82, former well field superintendent
for Wichita Water Department, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 28, 1931, in Newton to Eleodoro and
Herlinda (Castillo) Gonzalez.
He was a lifelong Halstead resident, moving to rural Walton
following his retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean
Conflict. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Ruth-Wilson
American Legion Post 231, Halstead.
On April 11, 1955, he married Catherine E. Franz in
Halstead, and she survives.
Other survivors include a son: Dennis (Cindy) Gonzalez,
Topeka; daughter: Cathy (Gene) Schneider, Goddard; sister: Jenny Sanchez,
Derby; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by infant sons: David Wayne and
Roger Neil; brothers: Manuel, Fred and John Gonzalez; and a sister: Margaret
Gonzalez.
The Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, both
at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead, with Father Edmond Kline
officiating. Burial will follow at Halstead Cemetery, Halstead.
Memorials may be given to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or
Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, in care of Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
