Linda Drake
Obituary
Linda (McClellan) Drake, 69, passed
away May 19, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. in Brookdale Assisted Living of
Murray, Kentucky. She was born April 28, 1947, in Ashland, Ohio, to
Clarence J. McClellan and Virginia J. (Koons) McClellan.
Linda loved music. She played saxophone
in the Mapleton High School Marching Band. She enjoyed singing in the
church choir, playing hand bells, and participating in church
fellowship activities and Bible studies. She graduated from Mapleton
High School of Ashland, Ohio, in 1965 before completing nursing
training at Samaritan School of Nursing in 1968 and completing a BSN
at The Ohio State University in 1972. She was a die-hard Buckeye
football fan. She worked primarily in geriatric care for 40 years
before retiring from Schowalter Villa, Hesston, in 2009. After making
her home in Murray, Kentucky, in 2010, Linda became a member of First
Christian Church.
Linda was preceded in death by her
parents. She is survived by her daughters Susan Drake of Murray,
Kentucky, Caryn Drake of Sherman Oaks, California, and Julie Drake of
Murray, Kentucky; and her sisters Gayle Asano of San Diego,
California and Sandy Kurtz of Sequim, Washington. She also leaves
behind many dear friends, including her best friend and football
watching buddy Ruth Nord of Mulvane.
Linda's Celebration of Life Memorial
Service was held May 31, 2016 at First Christian Church in Murray,
Kentucky, with Rev. Dr. Ruth Ragovin officiating. She loved Mohican
State Park of Loudonville, Ohio, and there, a red maple tree will be
planted in her honor.
