Guy W. Wright
Obituary
Guy W. Wright, 69, died Sunday (June
12, 2016) at Peabody Health and Rehab in Peabody. He was born
December 7, 1946, in El Dorado, to Cecil and Ruth (Parsons) Wright.
On July 7, 1990, he married Janis (Provence) in Maize, and she
survives.
Guy was a 1964 graduate of Peabody High
School. He was a member of First Church of Christ in Newton and
attended First Christian Church in Marion. He worked as a quality
control specialist for Excel Industries in Hesston for over 25 years
prior to retirement.
He was a lifetime member of the Newton
Lodge #142 AF&AM, Scottish Rite and Midian Shrine. He enjoyed
relaxing and watching TV.
Guy was also an avid hunter and
fisherman. He especially enjoyed hunting big game in Wyoming and the
Western States. He could often be found fishing at the Marion
Reservoir, where he made many friends.
Guy was a loving husband, a father, a
grandfather, a brother and a friend to many.
He is survived by his wife Janis of the
home; daughter Jaci Wright of Hesston; sons Guy Wright Jr. of Newton,
Mike Rogers of Deland, Florida; Eric Wright of Hesston; Wes Rogers of
Mount Hope, and David Rogers of El Dorado. He is also survived by 23
grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Cecilia Giberson
of Mountain Home, Idaho; and one nephew, Charles Giberson.
Guy is preceded in death by his
parents, grandparents, several aunts and uncles, as well as by one
niece and one nephew.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m.
Thursday (June 16, 2016) at First Christian Church in Marion, with
Pastor Carl Helm presiding.
Masonic committal rites will be offered
by Newton Lodge #142.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m.
Wednesday evening at Petersen Funeral Home, with the family receiving
friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Sunset Lawn
Cemetery in El Dorado.
Memorials are suggested to First
Christian Church of Marion or Kansas Masonic Foundation in care of
Petersen Funeral Home.
