Obituary
Sara S. Dale, 86, San Jose, California,
died Feb. 13, 2016. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday
(June 25, 2016) at First Presbyterian Church, Newton.
A private inurnment will be at
Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be
made to the Nature Conservancy or Dillon Nature Center in Hutchinson.
Sara was born in Plainview, Texas on
June 29, 1929, the daughter of Rev. Dr. Burney and Frances Norton
Shell. She grew up in Texas and Arkansas. She graduated from the
University of Arkansas and Michigan State University.
She married the Rev. Louis L. Dale in
1952. They lived in Highland, Concordia, Newton, Salina, Garden City,
Dodge City, Great Bend and Hutchinson.
Sara retired from teaching in the
Science Department at Hutchinson Community College after 24 years.
She moved to the San Jose area in 2007 to be closer to her daughter.
She was preceded in death by her
parents, husband and sisters, Frances Hudson and Martha Emerson. Sara
is survived by two children: Elizabeth (Jim) Kahn and Jon (Kathryn)
Dale; as well as by three grandchildren she adored: Caroline and
Katie Kahn and Nick (Madison) Dale.
