Obituary
Juanita Monares, 93, of Newton, died
Sunday (June 19, 2016) at the Kansas Christian Home in Newton.
Juanita was born on April 13, 1923, in
San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Soledad and Saturnina (Corona)
Sanchez.
She married Salvador Monares on October
28, 1943, in San Antonio, Texas.
Juanita loved dancing, gardening,
reading and cooking for her family. She and Salvador could often be
found at the Cotillion Ballroom in Wichita dancing to "big band"
music. Juanita was loved by her family and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her husband Salvador
of the home in Newton; sons Robert Monares and Dany Monares with his
wife Luci, all of Newton; daughters Gloria Whisler with husband Rick
and Dayna Monares, all of Wichita; brothers Edward Sanchez of San
Antonio and Eugene Sanchez of Columbus, Georgia; sisters Rosa Ybarra
and Pat Facundo, both of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren:
Ryan Whisler, Omar and Ashley Monares and Roman Monares; one great
grandson, Duncan Monares; along with many nieces and nephews.
Juanita is preceded in death by her
parents; sister Susie; brothers Joe, Catarino and Felix, as well as
by son-in-law George Dick.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be
said at 7 p.m., Thursday (June 23, 2016) with the Mass of Christian
Burial at 10 a.m., Friday (June 24, 2016), both at Our Lady of
Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic
Cemetery in Newton.
The casket will be open at the church
after 1 p.m. on Thursday.
