Wilma Meier
Obituary
Wilma L. Meier, 91, died on Wednesday
(July 13, 2016) at Kansas Christian Home in Newton.
Wilma was born on September 19, 1924,
in Newton to William and Daisy (Koppes) Launhard.
Wilma married Kenneth I. Meier on June
10, 1944. They were married 62 years before his death in 2006.
Wilma was a homemaker, loved golf,
flower gardening and was a great cook. She played the organ, piano
and flute. Wilma was a wonderful grandmother and was known as Grandma
Billie to her grandchildren. Kenneth and Wilma traveled extensively
in Europe, the Holy Land, and spent time in Africa, Mexico and
Hawaii. She was a member of many national boards for the United
Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children: Doug
and Jody Meier and Becky Meier; sister: Kathryn Fischer; two
grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents
and sisters: Marian Tangeman and Joan Goering.
A visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m.
on Friday (July 15, 2016) at Petersen Funeral Home. The family will
be present to greet friends and family from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
A graveside committal service will be
at 2 p.m. on Saturday (July 16, 2016) at Greenwood Cemetery.
