Gene E. (Gus) Lettau, 82, retired
railroad worker, died Tuesday (Sept. 14, 2004) at Wesley Medical
Center. He was born June 11, 1922, to August C. and Henrietta D.
(Priest) Lettau in Newton. They preceded him in death. He married
Florene Rutschman March 25, 1943, in Newton. She preceded him in
death. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Newton. He did
special things for each of his grandchildren and was the family
record keeper. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children and
grandchildren.
Survivors include: two sons, Daryl
Lettau and wife Angela of Roy, Utah, and Randy Lettau and wife Cheryl
of North Newton; a daughter; Patti Lettau Oliver and husband Craig of
Springfield, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by: two
sisters, Helen Boldenow and Pauline Rafferty; and a grandchild,
Alicia Lettau.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p. m.
Thursday with family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8 p. m. at
Petersen Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 10 a. m. Friday
at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Andres of Zion Lutheran
Church officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with
Alzheimers Disease Research and the American Heart Association, both
in care of the funeral home.
