Margaret L. "Peggy" Minner
94, died Wednesday (August 3, 2016) at Wichita Presbyterian Manor.
She was born November 9, 1921 in
Youngstown, Ohio to Roy E. and Emma (Morris) Birch. On August 1,
1944, she married Gaylen Minner at Struthers, Ohio, and he preceded
her in death in 1995. Margaret attended Aldersgate United Methodist
Church in Wichita. She earned her bachelor's degree and graciously
and lovingly served alongside her husband as preacher's wife in the
United Methodist Church. She and Gaylen served churches in Osborne
County, Oklahoma City and for more than 30 years in Abilene.
In their retirement years she lived at
the former Friendly Acres, now Asbury Park, in Newton where her
husband served as Chaplain. Peggy enjoyed reading and crocheting,
making baby blankets for family members as she could. She has lived
the last eight years at the Wichita Presbyterian Manor where the
family and Peggy both appreciated the care and love they received
from the staff. Peggy's greatest joy was that of mother and
grandmother and great grandmother and she looked forward to visits
from her loving family and many friends.
Peggy is survived by her son: Larry and
Janice Minner of Hutchinson and daughter: Linda Weber of Wichita; one
brother David Birch of Lititz, Pennsylvania. She is also survived
three grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her
parents, husband, sister: Dorothy Birch and two brothers Robert and
Roy Birch. She is also preceded in death by her son in Law David
Weber.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday
(August 5, 2016) at Aldersgate United Methodist Church 7901 West 21st
North in Wichita. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to
service time Friday at the church. Burial will be in Greenwood
Cemetery, Newton.
