Raymond Chester Hall, 88

Raymond Chester Hall, 88, passed away on Nov. 22, 2013, at his home in Hesston. 

He was born October 11, 1925, to Chester and Georgia Hall in Arkansas City, Ks.

After high school he joined the US Air Force (age 18) and served at the Pantanella air base near Canosa, Italy. He and his crew flew missions on a B-24 Liberator during WW2 in Italy.

After the war he attended the University of Kansas where he earned his degree in pharmacy. While in Lawrence he met his wife to be (Portia Redpath) and they were married on Jan. 28, 1949, in the chapel at KU.

In 1951 they moved to Quinter, Ks. where they raised their five children. Ray was a faithful and dedicated husband and father who served as a pharmacist for the Quinter community for nearly 40 years. After retiring, he and Portia moved to Hesston. Portia proceeded him in death in 2010. 

Ray loved Hesston and enjoyed golf, many senior center activities, pool, bridge, friends and family. He was a member of the Hesston United Methodist Church and especially enjoyed the Bible study there.

Ray is survived by four of his children: Mark Hall, Hesston/Newton; Isabel Flora, Olathe; Raymond W. Hall, Valley View, Tx.; and Margaret VanDolah, Gainesville, Tx; and sister Marjorie Kempker Grand Junction, Co. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

His son, Allen Hall, preceded him in death. 

A memorial service and celebration of his life was held Monday Nov. 25 at the Hesston United Methodist Church. 

A gravesite service was held at the Baker Township Cemetery, Quinter, Ks. on Tuesday Nov. 26.
