Obituary

Rickey L. Smith, 62, retired construction worker, passed away at home in Wichita on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013.

He was born in Salina to Mary Ann and Thomas Harlan Smith and was raised in Newton. Rickey liked to fish, dance, travel and make sand cast candles.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Shirley; step-father, Don Biggerstaff; sisters, Sherry Mayhill (Terry), Jeri Stucky (Tony Gooden), Barbara Metz (Jimmy), Brenda Hicks (Roe), Jana Morrison (Roger), Tammy Wyse (Dennis); brother, Don Smith (Helen); half-sisters, Georganne Weeks, Marianne Sanderson, Ann Mills; and half-brother, Hal Smith. He also had one son, Brian and a daughter, Shannacy; four grandchildren; and miniature poodles, Mishem and Zebula.

His parents and brothers, Mike and Fred Smith, preceded him in death.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at First United Church of Christ, 210 E. Fourth, Newton. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service.

Charitable contributions may be made to: American Red Cross, Salvation Army or First United Church of Christ.
