Obituary

Sabina Porter, 88, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at her Newton residence.

She was born March 28, 1925, in Hauzenberg, Germany, to Johann Baptist and Anna (Klinger) Zillner. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Oscar Pahl. On March 7, 1972, she married Wayne V. Porter in El Dorado, and he survives of the home.

Sabina was a longtime manager of the Newton Braums ice cream store prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Sabina greatly enjoyed spending time with her loving family and many friends and will be greatly missed. She especially enjoyed the company of her grandkids and great-grandkids.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne of the home; four stepsons, Farley Porter, Farrell Porter, Faber Porter and Fayne Porter; one stepdaughter, Fawn Schmidt; one brother, Helmut Zillner of Germany; and four sisters, Elisabeth Stusslein, Johanna Tunke and Josephine Kinteder, all of Germany.

Sabina was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; son, Harold Edward Pahl; and two brothers, Johann Zillner and Rudi Zillner.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newton, with the Rev. James Mainzer presiding. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the Rosary until 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.

Memorials are suggested to Progressive Hospice or St. Mary's Catholic Church, in care of the funeral home.
