Victor R. Goering
Obituary
Victor R. Goering, 95, passed away
Tuesday (Aug. 23, 2016), in North Newton. He was born Nov. 22, 1920,
in McPherson County, to Jacob J. and Lydia Zerger Goering, the oldest
of seven children. He married Elizabeth Claassen on June 11, 1943,
and they recently celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary.
Vic was a lifelong member of Eden
Mennonite Church of rural Moundridge. He graduated from Moundridge
High School and Bethel College, and later received his Master's
Degree from Emporia State University. He was a retired farmer and
educator.
Vic served in the Civilian Public
Service and was also one of the 'seagoing cowboys,' serving on a ship
that transported horses to Greece after World War II. He enjoyed
gardening and woodworking.
Vic is survived by his wife Elizabeth,
son Steven (Stein) and wife Barbara Duerksen of Richland Center,
Wisconsin; daughter Rachelle Goering of Petaluma, California;
daughter Deb Teitelbaum and husband Howard of Scottsdale, Arizona;
son Terence (TR) and wife Kit of Newton; six grandchildren, four
great-grandchildren; sisters Melva Wiebe and Anna Belle Schmucker;
and brothers Gilbert, Orville and Stanley. He was preceded in death
by his sister Violet Wildeboor.
Visitation with the family will be from
6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, at the Menno Hall Chapel in
Kidron Bethel Village, 3001 Ivy Drive, North Newton.
Memorial service will take place at 11
a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, at Eden Mennonite Church in rural
Moundridge.
