Obituary
FLORENCE - Ronald D. Kirkpatrick Sr., 78, passed away Oct.
7, 2013, near Burns.
He was born March 16, 1935, at Newton, the son of John and
Ruby (Weigand) Kirkpatrick. He was a graduate of Burns High School, where he
was a member of the 1953 State Championship Basketball Team. He proudly served
his country with the United States Army.
On July 20, 1957, he was united in marriage to Dorene
Widler. He was a farmer and stockman, but he also was a school bus driver,
worked for the Marion County road department and drove trucks. He served
several terms on the Marion/Florence School Board, including during the
consolidation of schools, and he served on the Co-op, and the Water Shed
Boards.
He was preceded in death by his brothers: John and Gary
Kirkpatrick.
He is lovingly survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorene; his
children: Ronald Jr. "Duane" and wife, Lori of Marion; Larry of
Florence; and Cynthia Holt and husband, Jeff of Peabody; his sister, Evelyn
Sidener of Burns; and four grandchildren: Jared, Matthew and Michael
Kirkpatrick, and Kara Holt.
Visitation with family will be held from 6–8 p.m. Thursday
at Zeiner Funeral Home, Florence Chapel. The funeral service will be held at
10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at Burns United Methodist Church.
Memorial funds have been established for the Florence Fire
Department (camera fund) or the American Heart Association, in care of Zeiner
Funeral Home, PO Box 6, Marion, KS 66861.
