Reynold Wiebe
Obituary
Reynold (Ryan) H. Wiebe passed away
peacefully at home in Bellevue, Washington, on the morning of Aug.
16, 2016. He was born to Jacob and Minnie Wiebe on Feb. 21, 1924, in
Harvey County. Ryan grew up in Newton, where he completed high school
before entering the Navy in 1942.
He was a veteran of WWII, serving in
the US Navy as a Yeoman 1st Class aboard the USS Catron during the
battle of Okinawa. After attending college courses at the University
of Kansas and Wichita State University, Ryan spent 38 years with the
Boeing Company, finishing his career in 1987 as Senior Manager of
corporate compensation.
A father of four, he enjoyed sports and
was a successful youth baseball and basketball coach. In retirement,
he loved to golf and play bridge.
Ryan was preceded in death by his
father, Jacob, and mother, Minnie, of Newton, and brother Marvin of
Tyler, Texas.
Ryan is survived by his sister, Pearl
Burk of Tuscon, Arizona; wife Sandra of Bellevue, Washington;
daughters Catherine Lowell of Duvall, Washington, and Cherie Garcia
of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; sons Ryan of Mukilteo, Washington, and
Steve of Redmond, Washington; 11 grandchildren; and his dog Benny.
Ryan was interred on Aug. 27,
2016, at Sunset Hills Memorial cemetery in Bellevue, Washington. The
ceremony was presided over by Chaplain Al Folmar and attended by more
than 100 guests.
