Donald Edward “Bud” Fischer

NEWTON - Donald Edward "Bud" Fischer, 87, of
Newton, passed away on Monday (Oct. 14, 2013) at the Newton Presbyterian Manor.
He was born Dec. 29, 1925, in Boone County, Neb., the son of
William "Farmer" and Marie Meyer Fischer. After graduating from high
school, Bud farmed until he was 18 years old, then he enlisted in the U.S. Air
Force. After being discharged from the military, Bud worked for O'Neil
Photography in Nebraska. He later worked as a photographer in Albion and York,
Neb.
Bud married Phyllis M. Rochford on Jan. 29, 1947, at St.
Patrick's Catholic Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa. In 1951, he went to work for
Beech Aircraft, where he worked in avionics until retiring Jan. 1, 1988.
After retiring, Bud and Phyllis moved to Bella Vista, Ark.,
where they lived until 1999, when they moved to Newton.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of Newton; sons, William
H. Fischer of the Bahamas, and Richard E. Fischer of Newton; daughter, Barbara
Jo Derringer of Bella Vista, Ark.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren;
and one great-great-grandchild.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters and
two brothers: Grant, Erna, Esther, Elsie, Iona; a brother in infancy; and one
great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 19, 2013)
at the Newton Presbyterian Manor Chapel. Private family inurnment will be held
at a later date at White Chapel Cemetery in Wichita.
There will be no visitation as cremation has been effected.
