Obituary
NEWTON - On Sept. 2, 2013, in Newton, our beloved mother,
Esther L. Tuggle, fell asleep and awoke in the arms of our heavenly father at
the age of 85.
She was a loving mother to Malinda Johnson, Bowie, Md.,
Ernest Rhodes Jr. of Canon City, Colo., and Joyce Lee and Janette Ortiz of
Newton; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Esther Lou Kratzer was born Feb. 21, 1928, to the late
William and Mary Kratzer. She was the fourth of six siblings, which includes
Margaret Jones of Los Angeles, Calif., Velma Jackson of Newton, and Ruby Holman
of Pomona, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two
brothers, Calvin and Phillip Kratzer.
Esther was a long-time resident of Kansas City, Mo., where
she lived with the love of her life, her husband, Martyn H. Tuggle. The
marriage lasted for more than 30 years, until he passed away in 1998. She moved
to Newton in November 2010, when her health started to fail and she was no
longer able to live by herself.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Petersen
Funeral Home, 215 North Main St., Newton, on Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, from 6:30
to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at 10 a.m.,
with Pastor Larry Lee presding. You may send flowers or you may make
contributions in her name to the American Society or the American Diabetes
Foundation.
The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses
at the Newton Medical Center, the AMG Specialty Hospital and Harden Hospice for
their outstanding care for our mother during her final days.
