Obituary
NEWTON - Chester "Chet" L. Danby, 80, died on
Sept. 27, 2013, at the Newton Medical Center in Newton.
He was born on Oct. 10, 1932, in Cassoday to Alice (Griffin)
and Chester M. Danby.
On July 3, 1952, he married Mary L. Hull in Emporia. She preceded
him in death on Oct. 19, 2012.
Chester served in the United States Army. He enlisted on
March 3, 1953, in Kansas City, Mo. He was honorably discharged on March 2,
1955, in Fort Bliss, Texas. He earned a National Defense Service Medal while
enlisted.
After the service, Chester went to work for the ATSF
Railroad as lease and contract clerk.
Chester enjoyed hunting, fishing and his gardening. His
great love was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Chester was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved
wife, Mary.
Survivors include his son, Brian and wife, Theresa, Newton;
two grandchildren, Shawn Danby and Summer Danby; three great-grandchildren,
Tyler Brockman, Emma Brockman and Maddy Danby.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at
2 p.m. at the Cassoday Cemtery, Cassoday.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, from 1 to
9 p.m. at the funeral home, with family greeting from 6 to 8 p.m.
