Obituary
Lola Marie Shuman, 77, passed away
Friday (Sept. 16, 2016) at her home in Newton. Lola was born November
1, 1939, in Springfield, Missouri. She was a beloved mother,
grandmother and friend.
Lola retired from McClellan Air Force
Base in Sacramento, California after 25 years as a civil servant. She
was a member of Trinity Heights Methodist Church in Newton. She loved
crocheting, reading, country music, getting together for cards and
bunco with her friends and playing with her great-grandchildren.
Those who knew her will always remember that she was kind, generous,
loving and devoted to her family and church.
She was preceded in death by her
parents Waldo and Taney Irby, her first husband James Forbus, her
second husband Vernon Shuman and her brother Garry Irby.
She is survived by her sister Carol
Vanzant; her brothers Jerry Irby and Ted Volen; her son James Forbus
and his wife Tami; her son Faron Forbus; her daughter Audrey
Glidewell and her husband John; her son Christopher and his wife
Bobbie; her grandsons James, Nicholas, Timothy, Matthew and
Christopher; her granddaughters Christina and Chantelle; her
great-grandsons Isaiah, Cole, Bryson, Levi, James and Joss; and her
great-granddaughter Fayth.
A public visitation will be held at
Petersen Funeral Home on Tuesday (Sept. 20, 2016) from 5 to 9 p.m.
with the family present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral
service will be on Wednesday (Sept. 21, 2016) at 1 p.m. at the
Petersen Funeral Home Chapel. Following the service, an entombment
will be held at the Halstead Cemetery Mausoleum in Halstead.
A memorial has been established for
Trinity Heights United Methodist Church of Newton.
