Vicki was born May 23, 1947, to Frank and Edith Rodriguez in
Newton, Kansas. She grew up in Newton. Following graduation from Newton High
School, she entered the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, and became a
registered nurse in 1968. She also attended Wichita State University.
Nursing was truly her calling and passion. She took a break
from full-time nursing to stay at home and raise her daughters. However, she
continued to practice as a volunteer nurse at her children's grade, middle and
high schools. While her health prevented her from returning to full-time
employment, she worked part time at the University of Kansas and, most
recently, at Johnson County Mental Health.
Vicki was a member of Johnson County Young Matron and a
former co-chair of their Holiday Homes Tour. She was also a former volunteer
for American Heart Association. She loved to travel, loved wine and dancing,
and truly enjoyed life.
She is survived by her husband, Ron of the home; daughter,
Kimberly Tennissen, Prairie Village; daughter, Carrie Tennissen, Prairie
Village; daughter, Christine (Wade) Korth; three grandsons, Jackson, Dawson and
Tenison Korth; mother, Edith Rodriguez, Newton, Kansas; brother, Orlando
(Charlene) Rodriguez, Newton, Kansas; and sister, Sonya (Mike) Bressie, Derby,
Kansas.
