Obituary: Roland LaCoste
Newton, Kan. — Roland LaCoste, 21, died Monday, July 1,
2013, as the result of a car accident in Arizona.
He was born Aug. 12, 1991, in Miami, Fla. He was a resident
of Dodge City. Roland was a 2009 graduate of Newton High School and attended
both Dodge City Community College and Hutchinson Community College. He greatly
enjoyed basketball and athletic challenges. He enjoyed kids and was a coach for
Mid America Youth Basketball. Roland was also a volunteer for Big Brothers.
Roland had a fondness for dogs and greatly enjoyed the
fireworks of the Fourth of July. He was a loving son and brother and will be
greatly missed.
Roland is survived by his parents, James LaCoste and Debra
Miller-Dealy of Newton; sisters, Carle and Kerwin Brocksmith of Oklahoma City,
Okla., Casey and Justin Billingsley of Stillwater, Okla., Carrie Dealy of
Newton, and Courtney Dealy and her partner Mollie Sultenfuss of Newton;
maternal grandparents, Don and Nova Miller of El Dorado; nieces, Maisy and
Annie Brocksmith and Maya Sultenfuss; and many other loving family members.
A memorial celebration of Roland’s life will be at 2 p.m.
Monday, July 8, 2013, at First Christian Church in Newton, with the Rev. Gary
Bell presiding.
