Harold Michael “Mike” Huntley (1944 - 2013)
Harold Michael "Mike" Huntley, 69, of Newton, died
Monday (July 22, 2013) at Newton Medical Center.
He was born on May 7, 1944, in Marion County, the son of
Harold M. "Buster" and Lois Marie Weyand Huntley. Mike attended
school in Florence, where he graduated from high school.
After being discharged from the U.S. Army, Mike moved to
Newton. He retired in 2004 from the Santa Fe Railroad after 42 years, where he
had worked as a signal foreman and later maintainer. Mike married Lola Koehn in
1978 in Newton.
For several years, Mike was an avid softball player, and
during the past several years, he was an avid golfer and could be found on the
golf course almost daily.
Survivors include his wife, Lola of the home; sons, Brandon
and Brian, both of Newton, Steve of Goddard, and Jim of Texas; daughters, Jaymi
Carter and Kim Lee, both of Wichita; brothers, Jack of Springfield, Mo., and
David of Peabody; sister, Kris Hysom of Wichita; and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday (July 26, 2013)
at First Christian Church in Newton. Private family interment will be at the
Hillcrest Cemetery in Florence.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 1
until 8 p.m., where the family will receive friends between 6 and 8 p.m.
A memorial has been established with the Emergency Response
Team of the Harvey County Sheriff Dept. Contributions may be sent to Broadway
