Vesta M. Wicke, 74, of North Newton and formerly of Augusta,
passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013.
Vesta was born in Blackwell, Okla. on May 10, 1939, to the
late Freeda (Luckert) and Paul E Wicke. She worked as a home economics teacher
for Augusta middle and high school. Vesta was responsible for starting ladies
competitive sports at Bethel College and volleyball at Augusta Jr./Sr. High.
She is survived by brother, Glenn Wicke and wife Sandra of
Deer Creek, Okla.; sister, Elsie Flaming of North Newton; nephews Kevan and Garth
Flaming and niece Susan Wicke.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Headley Funeral Chapel and Service will be 10 a.m. Monday, August 5, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, Augusta. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Byard Cemetery in Deer Creek, Oklahoma. In leu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the
Wicke-Flaming Scholarship Fund at the First United Methodist Church of Augusta,
or Wicke-Flaming Scholarship Fund at Bethel College in North Newton.
