Virgil J. Nachtigal
Virgil J. Nachtigal, 82, of Newton,
died Friday (June 19, 2009) at Newton Medical Center.
He was born on Jan. 27, 1927, in Newton
to Peter and Agatha (Weins) Nachtigal. They preceded him in death. He
was raised in Buhler.
On March 17, 1950, he married Viola
Woelk at Goessel Mennonite Church in Goessel. She survives of the
home.
Virgil was a retired printer. He
attended St. Luke Presbyterian Church and was a member of First
Mennonite Church, both of Newton.
Virgil was a NASCAR, Kansas City
Royals, Kansas City Chiefs and The University of Kansas basketball
fan. He also was an avid fisherman.
Family and friends were very important
to Virgil, and he greatly looked forward to spending time with his
loving family and many friends.
Other survivors include daughter, Becky
and Bob Davidson of Newton; sons, Kelly and Gale Nachtigal of Newton,
and Lonny Nachtigal of Melbourne, Fla.; brother, Harry and Emily
Nachtigal of Hutchinson; two step-granddaughters; and five
step-great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by
daughter, Randyln Nachtigal.
Graveside service was at 9:30 a.m.
today at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, followed by service at 10:30
a.m. at First Mennonite Church in Newton, with Pastor Joan Boyer and
Pastor Gordon Scoville, both of the church, and Pastor Paul Wissink
of St. Luke Presbyterian Church officiating.
