Obituary
Waunita (Jantz) Decker was born Aug. 5,
1914, in Galva, the oldest daughter of Minnie (Unruh) and Jacob T
Jantz. She died Saturday (Sept. 24, 2016) at the Bethesda Home,
Goessel, at age 102.
Waunita worked in the laundry of Bethel
Deaconess Hospital for 20 years and volunteered at Newton Medical
Center and at Source of Light until she was past 90.
Waunita married Clayton Decker on Sept.
2, 1934, in Galva. They farmed in the Burrton and Elbing areas before
moving to Newton in 1959. He died in 1969.
In addition to her parents and husband,
she is preceded in death by daughter Loretta Loomis; son Tony Decker;
son-in-law Don Hall; great-grandson Aaron Decker; three brothers and
three sisters.
Survivors include son Larry and Wanda
Decker of Clearwater; daughter-in-law Jan Decker of Wichita; brother
Harold Jantz; sister Elsie Ford; 12 grandchildren; 26
great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. on
Tuesday (Sept. 27, 2016) with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at
Petersen Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday
(Sept. 28, 2016) at Newton Bible Church, with burial following at
Greenwood Cemetery.
