Obituary: Leslie M. Downen
KS_Newton — Leslie M. Downen, 80, died May 31, 2013, at
Pine Village.
He was born October 10, 1932, at Oxford, Kansas, to Orvie R.
and Gracie M. Ivie Downen. He was a mechanic. He married Gladys M. Schmidt on
June 20, 1958, at Goessel.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys, Newton; daughters,
Elaine Perkins and Wanda (Jack) Salmans,
all of Moundridge; brothers, Roy Downen, San Francisco, Calif., and Ray Downen,
Sunny Vale, Calif.; sisters, Lois Dandridge, Overland Park, Kansas, and Lula
Frey, Topeka, Kansas; 4 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at
Restlawn Cemetery, Newton. Friends may call Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
with the family present at the Moundridge Funeral Home.
