Obituary

Howard H. Goering, 89, passed away Wednesday (Sept. 28, 2016) at the Buhler Sunshine Home. He was born March 16, 1927, in Moundridge, the son of Henry A. and Lydia Stucky Goering.

He farmed southeast of Peabody from 1951 until he retired to Newton in 2009. He was a very active member of the Burns Countryside Church, an avid fan of watching his children and grandchildren play sports and collected and restored farm equipment, especially John Deere antique tractors.

He married Darlene J. Jantz on March 16, 1951, at Moundridge. She passed away on June 18, 2014. He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Toby, Roland and Harley; and five sisters: twins, Welda Schmidt and Welma Thiessen, Erma Goering, Ellen Schrag and Florence Swanson.

He is survived by his children, Mike (Sherry) Goering of Lenexa, Rod (Becky) Goering of Hutchinson, Randy (Diane) Goering of Wichita and Lynette (William) Ramey of Newton; one brother, Vernon R. (Marna) Goering of Moundridge; two sisters, Joy (Leslie) Thiessen of Moundridge and Lorita Regier of Hesston; 20 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday (Sept. 30, 2016) at Buhler Mortuary, Buhler. Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday (October 1, 2016) at the Burns Countryside Church, 204 Yarrow Rd., Burns, with Pastors Arlen Buesnitz and Jeremy Goering officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
