Harry J. Geer
HILLSBORO - Harry J. Geer, 86, died
Thursday (Sept. 29, 2005) at Hillsboro Community Medical Center. He
was born Feb. 21, 1919, to Jesse and Freda (Hanke) Geer in Goessel.
He married Helen J. Spencer Aug. 25, 1962, in Kansas. He worked for
Hurst Products, Rhodes Construction and Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
He loved to spend time fishing, camping and working on cars. He also
spent time traveling with Helen. He was a member of the American
Legion Club of Newton. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law,
Betty (Geer) and G.W. Bean of Hillsboro; son, Steve Geer of
Hillsboro; stepson, Mike Reaves of Marysville, Calif.; sister, Pearl
Glass of Kermit, Texas; three grandchildren; and numerous
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his
parents; his wife; a son, Harry "Butch" Geer; a daughter,
Diane Geer; and brothers, Lu and Herk Geer.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m.
Sunday and 8 to 10 a.m. Monday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
Service will be 11 a.m. Monday in
Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Gaylord Goertzen of Ebenfeld
Mennonite Church in Hillsboro officiating.
Memorials have been established with
American Legion Club, in care of the funeral home.
