Obituary: Bobby R. Abplanalp
KS_Newton — Bobby R. Abplanalp, 83, of North Newton, died
Tuesday (June 18, 2013) at the Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis
Campus in Wichita.
He was born on Dec. 28, 1929, in Newton, the son of Walter
and Hattie Goodrich Abplanalp. He served in the U.S. Navy. Bobby married
Eleanor Shockley on Jan. 30, 1953, in Potwin.
Bobby had worked at K N Energy for several years before
retiring in 1992. They moved to Newton in 1996.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor of the home in North
Newton; sons, Steven and his wife Jill of Attica, and Terry of Lakin; daughter,
Cindy Webster and husband Larry of McPherson; sisters, Maxine Harris of Denver,
Colo., Lois Ingram of Tampa, Fla., and Bernice Harvey of Newton; seven
grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and eight
step-great-grandchildren.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mable
Ekholm.
Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday (June 22,
2013) at the Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday (June 22,
2013) at First United Methodist in Newton.
Friends may call at the funeral home 1 to 8 p.m. Friday,
where the family will receive friends between 7 and 8 p.m.
A memorial has been established with First United Methodist
Church. Contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E.
Broadway, Newton.
