Obituary: Larry E. Lais
KS_Newton — Larry E. Lais, 80, passed away on April 30,
2013, at Schowalter Villa, Hesston.
He was born April 14, 1933, in Portland, Ore., the son of
Mary Lais. He married Thelma Brenneman on June 4, 1954, in Hesston. She
survives.
Larry worked as a shop manager for Kropf Lumber for 22
years, then as a machinist for Hesston Corporation for 17 years. He was also a
master wood craftsman.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Lais of Hesston; sons,
Lynn and wife Janice Lais of Grantsville, Md., and Dr. Randall Lais of Dallas,
Texas; daughter, Cynthia Lais of Kansas City, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation.
Memorial services will be on May 22 at 2:30 p.m. at Hesston Mennonite Church,
Hesston, with Pastors John C. Murray and Nadine Friesen officiating. Inurnment
will be in Eastlawn Cemetery, Hesston.
