Margaret E.
Spencer, 98, died Friday, March 29, 2013, at Newton Medical Center.
She was born April 10, 1914, in Westbrook,
Minn., to John and Bertha (Greenman) Rupp. On May 18, 1954, she married Robert
L. Spencer in Santa Cruz, N.M. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1992.
Margaret was a member of First Presbyterian
Church in Newton and retired as a train order clerk from the Santa Fe Railroad.
Margaret is survived by her sister: Lucille
Hornbaker of Riverdale, Calif.;
sister: Rebecca Gersmehl of
Sheboygan, Wis.; brother: Daniel Rupp of Bolingbrook, Ill.; step-son: Douglas
Spencer of Hawaii; and a step-granddaughter and three step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers: Carl, Benjamin and
Glenn Rupp; and sisters: Amy M. Kelahan and Dorothy Borst.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013, at First Presbyterian
Church in Newton, with the Rev. James W. Anderson presiding. Visitation will be
5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Petersen Funeral Home, with the family
receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery,
Newton.

Church, in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
