Mary Elizabeth Berger Gilmore Homfeld
HOUSTON, Texas -- Mary Elizabeth Berger Gilmore Homfeld, 79, died Friday (March 7, 1997) at Hospice Medical Hospital in Houston after an extensice illness.
She was born on July 8, 1917, in rural Hesston to Gus and Edna Berger. She married Robert Bruce Gilmore, II and moved to Texas. He died. She married Hal Homfeld. He died in 1969.
She was raised in rural Hesston and graduated from Newton High School. She lived and worked for several years until she retired in Houston.
Survivors include one son, Robert Bruce Gilmore, III of Houston, Texas; and one aunt, Daisy Nebergall of Newton, who is referred to many times as her second mother.
She will be cremated and buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. A memorial service was held Tuesday (March 11, 1997) in Houston. A memorial service also will be held in Newton at a later date.
