Obituary: Sadie Estelle (Bucher) Nelson
KS_Newton -- Funeral services for Sadie Estelle Nelson,
age 70, of Mt. Vernon, Texas, were held Monday, April 1, 2013, at the Harvey
Funeral Home Chapel, with Mark Dalton and Mike Long officiating. Burial
followed at the Mt. Vernon City Cemetery.
She died Thursday, March 28, 2013, at the Mission Manor
Nursing Home.
She was born on Nov. 7, 1942, in Greeley, Colo., the
daughter of L.D. and Estelle Bucher. She married Gary Nelson on Feb. 17, 1973,
in Newton.
Sadie grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High
School in 1960.
She was a longtime employee of the City of Mt. Vernon,
working in the water department. She also served as municipal judge from 1983
to 1988. She was a graduate of East Texas State University Commerce and of the
Methodist faith.
She is survived by husband, Gary Nelson of Mt. Vernon;
brother, Tom Bucher of Bartlesville, Okla.; and three sisters, Zella Thomas,
Celesta Gaede and L’Deena Jones, all of Newton. She is also survived by eight
nieces and nephews, 17 great-nieces and nephews, and two great-great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
