Obituary: Emery Lee Gerber
KS_Newton -- Emery Lee Gerber, 83, passed away on April 5,
2013, at Schowalter Villa, Hesston.
He was born Oct. 20, 1929, in Harper, the son of Joe and Ida
Yoder Gerber. He graduated from Hesston Academy. He was a lifetime resident of
Harper, and moved to Hesston in 2006. He married Joan Ely on Feb. 16, 1951.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Gerber of Hesston; sons,
Jerry and wife Pam of Harper, Lynn and wife Sue of Beatrice, Neb.; daughter,
Jana and husband Roger Heger of Bemidji, Minn.; son-in-law, Jerre Bontrager of
Hesston; grandchildren, Joel and wife Leslie, Drew and wife Annie, Megan and
husband Andy, Ryan and wife Anna, Matt and wife Mindi, Jerod, Jordan, Aaron,
Jacqueline and husband Pat; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Ida Gerber;
daughter, Lucy Gerber Bontrager; three brothers; and two sisters.
Emery’s body was bequeathed to Kansas University School of
Medicine, in which case there will be no visitation. Memorial service will be
Saturday, April 20, at 10:30 a.m. at Hesston Mennonite Church.
Memorials may be sent to the Kansas Mennonite Men’s Chorus
or to Schowalter Villa Good Samaritan fund, in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home,
Hesston.
