Richard Craig Schulz, 59, longtime Newton
resident, died at home of natural causes March 8, 2013, according to the Harvey
County coroner.
Craig, as he was always known, was born at Bethel Deaconess
Hospital in Newton on April 15, 1953, the third and youngest son of George H.
and Marjory M. Schulz. He was baptized at First Presbyterian Church on Oct. 4
of that year and spent his entire youth in Newton. He was a member of the
Newton High School graduating class of 1971.
On June 14, 1975, Craig married Donna Lee Selzer of Goessel.
The couple lived in Newton then briefly in Indiana before divorcing in 1980.
They had no children. Craig then returned to Kansas, where he worked in various
sales positions in Wichita before finally settling again in Newton, where he
spent his remaining years.
He is survived by his brothers, Gary D. Schulz of Leesburg,
Va., and Bradley K. Schulz of Garden Valley, Idaho; and by three nieces and
several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
His remains will be buried near those of his parents in the
Canton Cemetery. In the absence of any close family members in Kansas, no
immediate services were held. A graveside memorial service is planned for late
spring, with details to be announced.
