Obituary: Max Lawrence Royer
KS_Newton -- Max Lawrence Royer of Phoenix, Ariz., passed
away on Feb. 22, 2013.
He was born in Wichita and was the son of Alvin and Ella
Royer. Max married Helen Louise Walters in 1944, and they were married for 68
years.
He grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School
in 1943 before leaving for the Navy in 1944. He was in the service for two
years, after which he and Helen moved to Wichita.
They had five children: Janie Frogge of Port Angeles, Wash.,
Judie Shoemaker of Litchfield Park, Ariz., Jackie Kelly of Encinitas, Calif.,
Larry Royer of Encinitas, Calif., and Alvin Leonard (Buddy) Royer. He also
leaves eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was in construction all of his working career and worked
in Wichita, several areas in California and in Arizona. He was the construction
superintendent of many high-rise buildings. Most of his career was spent in
southern California. He retired in 1987 and moved back to Newton for eight
years before moving to Phoenix.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 11 brothers and
sisters; and his beloved son, Buddy Royer.
