Obituary: Robert L. “Bob” Story

L. “Bob” Story, 77, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at his Newton residence.
He was born Dec. 3, 1935, in Pratt to Willard F. and Ruby
(Winters) Story. On June 3, 1959, he married Sharon Reynolds in Newton, and she
survives of the home.
Bob served his country in the U.S. Army, serving at the
Presidio in San Francisco. He retired after 39 years from Hay and Forage in the
assembly and packaging areas.
Bob enjoyed playing pool with his friends at the Newton
Senior Center, repairing and refurbishing lawnmowers and especially enjoyed
spending time fishing. He could be found helping the St. Mary’s Catholic Church
Altar Society preparing meals and doing dishes. Bob was a family man who
greatly enjoyed and looked forward to spending time with his loving wife,
daughter and three granddaughters.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon of the home; daughter,
Linda and her husband, Mike and their three daughters, Ashley, Amanda and
Abigail, all of North Newton; brothers, Delbert and his wife, Sharon of
Hutchinson, Ralph and his wife, Pat of Hutchinson, Billie and his wife, Yuvonne
of Clovis, N.M.; sisters, Elizabeth and Carl Kesling of California, Edith
Kestler of Hutchinson, Wanda Smith of Grand Junction, Colo., Shirley Kysar of
St. Charles, Mo.; and three granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul and
Donald Story.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s
Catholic Church, Newton, with the Rev. Jim Mainzer officiating. Recitation of
the Holy Rosary will be prior to the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be 5
to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends
from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Newton.

Research at KSU or the St. Mary’s Catholic School, in care of Petersen Funeral
Home.
