Obituary: Dorothy Jane (Tanner) Schmidt
KS_Newton -- Dorothy Jane (Tanner) Schmidt, 91, passed
away on Feb. 1, 2013, at the Kansas Christian Home in Newton.
Dorothy was born in Newton on March 15, 1921, to the late
Jesse Edward and Lottie M. (Geabhart) Tanner.
On Nov. 8, 1938, she married Ben Schmidt in El Dorado. He
preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1998.
Other family preceding Dorothy in death were sisters, Ethel,
Juanita, Doris, Jessie, Virginia, Genevieve, Bonnie and Judy.
She is survived by her son, Leon and wife Carolyn;
grandchildren, Shawn, Shelly and Brent; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Joan
Bernowich and Darleen Morris.
Visitation will be on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m. at the funeral home. The family will have a private burial.
