Obituary: Gertrude Elizabeth (Dudte) Jeter
KS_Newton -- Gertrude Elizabeth Dudte was born on Nov. 22,
1911, to John Lewis Dudte and Anna Tangeman Dudte. She passed away on Jan. 15,
2013, at Ozark Riverview Manor in Ozark, Mo.
After graduating from Newton High School, she worked at a
local bank before enrolling in Southwestern Bible School, Enid, Okla. After
graduating from SW Bible School, she worked in the missions department of the
Assemblies of God.
In 1941, she married Hugh P. Jeter of Oklahoma City. Soon
after their marriage, they went to Cuba, where they were missionaries until
1952. After they left Cuba, they served as missionaries in Spain and Morocco.
They returned to the United States in 1958, moving to Waxahachie, Texas.
After her husband's death in 2004, Gertrude moved to
Virginia Beach, Va., where she lived with her son, Stanley, and his family. In
November 2012, she moved to a nursing home in Ozark, Mo., where she passed away
on Jan. 15, 2013.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh P.
Jeter.
She is survived by her children: Stan and his wife Rhoda of
Virginia Beach, Va., Robert and his wife Linda of Waxahachie, Texas, Don and
his wife Cyndie of Springfield, Mo., Doug and his wife Raynan of Ozark, Mo.,
Betty and her husband Robby Jernigan of Marshfield, Mo. She is survived by 17
grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, as well as siblings, Harry Dudte,
Jessie Allen and Dorothy Unruh, sister-in-law, Hazel and husband Fred Dudte of
Newton, and Elsie Johnson of Maple Valley, Wash. She had many nieces and
nephews who loved and admired their Aunt Gertrude.
