Obituary: Donald Walter Crawford
KS_Newton -- Donald Walter Crawford, 84, of Newton, passed
away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Kidron Bethel Nursing Home, North
Newton.
Don was a retired meat cutter and market manager in Colorado
Springs, Colo. He had lived in Newton since 1995, formerly of McPherson.
He was born on Aug. 13, 1928, in Hutchinson, the son of
Donald Lee and Lillian Faith (Casto) Crawford. He was united in marriage to
Betty Jean Hunter in 1953 in Georgia.
Don attended the McPherson High School. He was of the
Christian faith and a member of the Midian Shrine (Clown Unit) and the Masonic
Lodge. He also was a captain in the National Guard.
Survivors include: son, Michael Crawford and wife, Renae, of
Newton; daughters, Terri Dick and husband, Don, of Wichita, Tresa Gallaher and
husband, Dean, of Blanchard, Okla., and Vicki Coggins and husband, Art, of
Mulhall, Okla.; brothers, Doug Crawford and wife, Wilma, of Inman, and Bob
Crawford and wife, Rose, of North Newton; sister, Mary Koehn and husband,
Wayne, of McPherson; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several
nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at
Stockham Family Funeral Home, with Chaplain Bill Eichelberger officiating.
Burial will be in the McPherson Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior
to the funeral service on Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
The casket will be closed.
