Obituary: Alma L. Blosser

KS_Newton  --  Alma L. Blosser, 85, passed away Feb. 15, 2013, at Newton Medical Center, Newton.

She was born April 3, 1927, in Harper, the daughter of Samuel and Mamie Belle Plank Garber. She worked at Schowalter Villa in Hesston for 35 years. Alma was also a farm wife, and taught piano lessons.

On Nov. 23, 1947, she married Vernon F. Blosser. He passed away on Sept. 9, 1998.

She was a member of the Pennsylvania Mennonite Church, which became Whitestone Mennonite Church in Hesston.

She is survived by her son, Vernon (Brenda) of Hesston; daughters, Karen (Daniel) White of Newton, Joletha (Wilhelm) Horn of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Sarah, Laura, Samuel Blosser, Greg (Cheryl) Mason, Joy (Elan) Buller, Janelle Carr, Jennifer Henning; step-grandchildren, Tami (Jim) Studer, Todd White; great-grandchildren, Josh Delgado, Jillian Ross-Mason, Natalie, Toby and Colten Henning; and two step-great-granchildren, Keara and Taryn Studer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Vernon.

Private family burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery, Hesston. Memorial services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at Whitestone Mennonite Church, Hesston, with Pastor Kurt Horst, Pastor Peter Hartman and Chaplain Wendy Miller officiating.

Friends called on Sunday, Feb. 17, from 2 to 6 p.m., with family present 4 to 6 p.m. at the Schowalter Villa Chapel, Hesston.

Memorials may be made to the Mennonite Disaster Service, or Pastoral Ministries at Hesston College, in care of Miller-Ott Funeral Home, 107 S. Lancaster, P.O. Box 32, Hesston, KS 67062.
