Obituary: Joyce Maxine Colgin
Joyce Maxine Colgin, 81, of Bethesda Home, Goessel, and
formerly of Newton, died January 1, 2013, at Newton Medical Center, Newton. She
was born on April 8, 1931, in La Harpe, the daughter of Ray H. and Florence
Ellen (Lyman) Myers. She was a retired beautician. On November 23, 1952, she
married William H. Colgin in Allen County, and they later divorced. Survivors
include sons, Mike (Jo) Colgin and Roger Colgin, all of Canton; brothers, Lynn
Myers, St. Charles, Mo., and Ray Myers, Rapid City, S.D.; three sisters, Lois
Hays, Wichita, Iris Stewart, Farmersville, Texas, and Gayle McBrearty, St.
Charles, Mo.; four grandchildren, Craig (Gloria) Colgin, Chad Colgin, Kenny
Colgin and Nate Martens; and four great-grandchildren. A sister, Carol Hephner,
preceded her in death. Funeral service will be at 11 a. m. Saturday, Jan. 5,
2013, at the First Baptist Church, Canton. Burial will be in Canton Township
Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Olson’s
Mortuary, Canton. A memorial has been established with the Newton V.F.W.
Auxiliary, in care of the mortuary.
