Obituary: Terry Marteney
Following a short, courageous battle with cancer, Terry
Marteney, 56, passed away at his home, December 17, 2012, with his wife and his
mother by his side. He was born in Hutchinson on March 10, 1956. Terry
graduated from Hutchinson High School and joined the Air Force and was stationed
after basic training in Wichita Falls, TX. After serving two years he came home
to Hutchinson. For the next several years, he was employed by Cessna in
Hutchinson then Collins Limousine in South Hutchinson. After years of training
he moved to Shreveport, LA, where he spent many years as a "Custom Auto
Painter."When he moved back to Kansas, he settled in Newton and had worked
at Newell Truck Plaza as long as he could. In November 2012, he married
Jacqueline Shipman Suffield. Survivors include his wife, Jackie, of the home;
son, Jory of Newton; daughter, Amanda Fishbeck of Shreveport, LA; mother, Karen
Shoemaker, Wichita; father, Jim Marteney, Cedar Park, TX; sisters, Vicki
Brooks, Collinsville, OK, Wendy Karlovich, Mt. Pleasant, TX; and five lovely grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were grandparents, Gilbert and Alta Marteney, Myrland
and Mildred Shank; sister, Mona Kay Marteney, all of Hutchinson; and sister,
Sherri Corl, Brighton, CO. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service
will be announced at a later date. Terry was an avid fisherman and requested
his remains be scattered at the spot he felt was so very peaceful and where he
learned his fishing skills, taught by his grandfather, Myrland, in Cuchara,
CO.A memorial has been established with Baker Funeral Home, 114 N. Sycamore
